Who are we?
This is the online home of the York Outdoor Group. Here you can find an introduction to the group - who we are, what we do and when we do it.
What do we do?
The York Outdoor Group aim to organise a walk each and every Sunday throughout the year. In addition to this, a weekend away is usually held once a month. Evening cycle rides are arranged during the summer months when the evenings are longer. A varied range of social activities are also organised throughout the year.
Sunday Walks
Sunday walks are the bread and butter of YOG and tend to be between 10 and 14 miles in length (16 - 22 Km). On occasion they can be a bit longer, and this will be detailed in the programme.
Unless stated otherwise, walks leave by car at 0900 from Nunnery Lane Car Park in York. We operate a Car sharing scheme, whereby the passengers contribute petrol money at 25p a mile, shared between everyone in the car. This arrangement is at the drivers' discretion.
When coming on one of our walks please ensure you have sturdy footwear, waterproofs, and enough consumables for a full day out in the wilds. If you need advice on what is suitable please contact the committee.
